Four NYIT plays remain alive in ECC Play of Year contest; Elite Eight voting underway

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Half of the entries still alive in the East Coast Conference's Play of the Year contest belong to NYIT student-athletes.

Highlights from Jessica Daniel (softball), Shannon Donovan (women's lacrosse), Joey Fusco (baseball) and Domonic Joseph (men's basketball) all advanced to the Elite Eight on Thursday.

Voting for the right to go to the Final Four began Friday via the ECC's Twitter account (@ECCSports).

NYIT won the inaugural ECC contest a year ago as Tom Hughes' sudden-death OT goal in the league's men's lacrosse championship game against Mercy earned the title.

Unfortunately, two NYIT plays will go head-to-head in the next round as Daniel and Joseph are poised to square off.

Otherwise, Mercy has three entries remaining, while Daemen has the other in the Elite Eight.
