Christine Barcavage joined the NYIT Athletic Training staff in October 2015.
The Syosset, N.Y. native comes to NYIT from Division I St. John’s University, where as an assistant athletic trainer she covered the women’s soccer and tennis teams as well as supported various out-of-season sport coverage. In her time with the Red Storm, she worked closely with team physicians and their offices to ensure the best care and coverage for the student-athletes. Barcavage also has experience with acting as the host ATC, when she coordinated medical details and coverage for the Big East Track and Field Championship as well as the AAC Track and Field Championship.
"We are extremely excited to add Christine Barcavage to our staff," said Duane Bailey, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation. "She brings great experience to NYIT and will help us continue to provide the best health care to our student-athletes.
Prior to her time at St. John’s, Barcavage held graduate internships at the New Jersey Orthopedic Institute, Seton Hall University, and Drew University where she worked one-on-one with student-athletes, managing their documents, providing rehabilitation programs as well as creating and implementing injury prevention via therapeutic exercises.
Barcavage holds a New York Athletic Training State License and is certified in CPR and first aid by the American Heart Association as well as OSHA Certified. She is an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, receiving her B.S. in exercise science in May 2012, before earning her M.S. in athletic training from Seton Hall in May 2014.
