Baseball swept by Midshipmen in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The NYIT baseball team was swept by Navy in a doubleheader on Saturday by scores of 15-3 and 12-0.

Right-hander Matt Diaz was charged with seven runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings, while designated hitter Anthony Caradonna went 3-for-3 at the plate in the opener.

In Game 2, Elias Martinez surrendered six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and a walk in four innings. NYIT committed seven errors and mustered only three hits.

The Bears (2-12) will look to salvage the finale of the four-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. with left-hander Ben Wright on the mound. In Wright's last appearance, he tossed a four-hit shutout against Albany on March 9.
