OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Ben McNeill delivered NYIT baseball a dramatic win on Saturday.

McNeill delivered a walk-off RBI double and the Bears defeated Molloy, 1-0, in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Field.

The Bears snapped a seven-game skid and handed Molloy its first East Coast Conference defeat.

NYIT then dropped the nightcap, 9-2.

In the opener, Alex Passarella tossed 101 pitches and limited the Lions to two hits in eight scoreless innings in a 101-pitch no-decision. Brandon Alberto earned the win in relief.

Molloy right-hander Kevin Hiss took a scoreless effort into the ninth inning, but plunked Nick Lombardi to open the frame. Joey Fusco sacrificed Lombardi to second base. Lombardi then narrowly advanced when third baseman Jack McCarty could not hold onto the throw from catcher Sean Hogan on a wild pitch.

Still, Molloy nearly escaped when Lombardi got caught between third and home and was tagged out on Joseph Pesce's ensuing grounder.

But McNeill then bailed out the Bears by plating Pesce from first base on a two-out double to left-center.
