Seniors Christopher Miller, Joey Fusco have big contributions in home finale as baseball sweeps Queens

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Christopher Miller earned a win on Senior Day.

Miller, along with fellow seniors Joey Fusco, Mike Sinnott and Jonathan Tenaglia, were honored in a pregame ceremony Saturday at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Field. The Bears then swept visiting Queens, 8-4 and 3-2.

NYIT concludes its inaugural season in the East Coast Conference against the Knights on Sunday in Flushing.

In Game 1, Miller limited Queens to three runs in 6 2/3 innings. He then handed the ball to Alex Passarella, who pitched the remainder of the game.

Zach Kleinwaks went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs and Ben McNeill went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in the victory.

NYIT had built a 6-0 lead before the Knights produced a three-run seventh that chased Miller.

In Game 2, Brandon Alberto tossed a seven-inning complete game.

The Bears led 3-0 on an a pair of RBI singles from Fusco and Ryan Kuskowski's sacrifice fly. NYIT then held on.

After Alberto surrendered a leadoff homer in the final inning to Matthew Stepnoski and Queens pulled within a run, Kevin Kolesar followed with a double. But Alberto stranded the tying runner in scoring position by recording three straight outs and NYIT ended the home portion of its schedule on a high note with a doubleheader sweep.
