Vinny Rubino joined the NYIT baseball coaching staff in June 2012. Rubino came to NYIT after spending the previous nine years as the varsity baseball coach at St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset.
While at St. Mary’s, Rubino and his staff were honored once with the CHSAA Coach of the Year Award and the Sportsmanship Coaches Award three times. During his tenure at St. Mary’s, Rubino mentored 13 student athletes in achieving a NCAA Division I Baseball Scholarship.
Rubino played second base and outfield from 1990 to 1993 at LIU Post under the mentoring of ACBA Hall of Fame Coach Dick Vining. Rubino also was a member of the 1991 ECAC Championship team.
A native of Little Neck, N.Y., Rubino attended Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in Queens, where he lettered three years in baseball. Rubino played second base and was a key contributor to winning the 1998 PSAL Championship at Yankee Stadium. Rubino was selected to the Daily News All-City team and the Exceptional Senior team in 1989.
Rubino was a Board Member of the Oceanside American Little League for four years. He also currently manages the Long Island Whalers 13U summer travel team.
