OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The NYIT men's lacrosse team has a date with the top-ranked Division II team in the country on Sunday.

In the weekly coaches poll released Monday by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, NYIT remained ranked eighth after defeating then-No. 11 Mercyhurst, 16-9, in the season opener.

Meanwhile, with preseason No. 1 Limestone having lost its opener to Lenoire-Rhyne, Merrimack has ascended to the top spot in this week's poll. And it just so happens that Merrimack pays a visit to President's Stadium on Sunday to face NYIT at noon.

"They're going to be real tough," NYIT coach Bill Dunn said about Merrimack. "They lost in the national championship [game] last year."
