GREENSBURG, Pa. — The NYIT men's lacrosse team is off to an uncharacteristically slow start to its season.

Despite three goals from LeRoy Halftown, fifth-ranked Seton Hill defeated the visiting Bears, 13-7.

The 15th-ranked NYIT fell to 2-4 on the season. It is the first time since 1977 that the Bears have owned a sub-.500 record after six games.

The Griffins scored a pair of goals seven seconds apart to grab an early 2-0 lead. Matt Murphy and Michael Trainor answered with goals to even the score. However, Seton Hall rattled off the next four goals — including one with a second to go before intermission — to take a 6-2 lead into halftime.

Consecutive third-quarter goals from Halftown pulled NYIT within 7-5, but the Bears got no closer.

NYIT looks to regroup when it hosts No. 4 Pace on Wednesday at President's Stadium.
