Men's lax sweeps ECAC awards; Halftown, Prate, Jockers and Dunn all selected

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. —The NYIT men's lacrosse team swept the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference annual awards announced Wednesday.

LeRoy Halftown was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, Ian Prate was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, Brian Jockers was named ECAC Rookie of the Year, and Bill Dunn was named ECAC Coach of the Year.

Halftown and Prate also joined Matt ChanenchukAndrew Zito and Tom Brennan as first-team All-ECAC selections. Teammates Frank Callan and Nick Deluca were named honorable mention All-ECAC.

In Division II, the ECAC comprises 26 programs from New York to South Carolina and west to Missouri.

The NYIT men's lacrosse team produced a 13-5 overall record, earned its second straight East Coast Conference title and returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2018. The season ended Saturday with a quarterfinal loss at top-seeded Merrimack.
