Rob Isme joined the NYIT women's basketball staff after spending several seasons with the men's program.
In May 2015, he was named the interim head coach of the NYIT men's basketball team, after the departure of former head coach Sal Lagano. He earned his first career win in a season opening, 80-76 victory over Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, November 14. The team finished with a 3-24 overall record.
In the previous eight seasons, Isme assisted in the Bears 110-114 overall record, with five appearances in the East Coast Conference Tournament. In 2014-15, NYIT finished at 14-15 overall and made it to the first round of the ECC Playoffs. For his efforts, senior Darian Hooker earned several accolades- most notably ECC Player of the Year, Daktronics Third Team All-American and All-Met Division II Player of the Year.
Isme joined the men's program as an assistant coach in 2007 after serving as the varsity assistant coach for three seasons at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the freshman team in 2005-2006, and became the head junior varsity coach from 2006 to 2008.
A 2003 graduate of Half Hollow Hills High School, Isme was a three-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, and track and field. As a senior, he received the Golden Key Award for earning nine varsity letters.
Isme graduated from NYIT in May 2012 with a bachelor's degree in hospitality management.
