OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — NYIT goalie Lauren Young has been named Division II Defensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Young saved 60 percent of the shots she faced last week as the 14th-ranked Bears recorded wins over previously unbeaten Mercy as well as St. Thomas Aquinas. She posted 14 saves in the win at Mercy.
"She was awesome," coach Kerri Handras said. "She had all those saves against Mercy. It was a huge conference win. Fourteen saves is a lot of saves in a game, and against a team that was undefeated."
