Erin Smith, Karie Znaniecki named IWLCA first-team All-Region

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — NYIT seniors Erin Smith and Karie Znaniecki have been named first-team All-Region by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. They are now eligible for IWLCA All-America consideration, with the results announced on May 18.

Also recognized by the IWLCA: Alyssa Milano as second-team All-Region and Taylor Davide, Katie Meinecke and Lauren Young as third-team All-Region.

Smith, the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, enters Friday's NCAA Tournament opener against LIU Post in Syracuse with 40 groundballs, 34 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers.

Znaniecki, a first-team All-ECC selection along with Smith, has a team-leading 101 points on 48 goals and 53 assists. The point total ranks second in the league, trailing only Roberts Wesleyan's Cassley Jackowski (118).
