Women's lacrosse to open 2018 season on Feb. 28 vs. Georgian Court

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — What will the NYIT women's lacrosse team do for an encore?

After earning a No. 11 ranking and an NCAA Tournament berth as well as garnering media attention from the likes of The New York Times, CBS and ABC during their inaugural season, the Bears will return to action Feb. 28 with a home game against Georgian Court at 2:30 p.m.

The 2018 schedule, released Tuesday, features five straight games at President's Stadium to begin the season. NYIT then plays six straight road games, including a trip to the Sunshine State for games against Tampa on March 20 and St. Leo on March 22.

President's Stadium also will host the ECC title game on May 5.

NYIT's returnees include Karie Znaniecki, a second-team All-American whose 102 points ranked fifth in Division II last season. Ashley Miller is expected to step into the goal for the Bears with the graduation of Lauren Young in May.
