Alyssa Milano sets program single-game goals record, women's lax routs UDC in regular-season finale

WASHINGTON — And now on to the East Coast Conference postseason.

The NYIT women's lacrosse team concluded its regular season on Saturday with a 20-4 win against District of Columbia.

The Bears completed the regular season 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the ECC.

NYIT, which earned the third seed in the expanded ECC playoffs, will host sixth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a quarterfinal matchup. The winner will travel to No. 2 Mercy for a Thursday semifinal.

Against UDC, Shannon Donovan opened the scoring 53 seconds into the game. The Firebirds evened the score shortly thereafter. But NYIT then rattled off 19 straight goals.

Alyssa Milano established a new program single-game record by scoring eight goals. Donovan finished with four goals and two assists. Karie Znaniecki had three goals and six assists.

Ashley Miller and Samantha Rivera each handled 30 minutes in goal.
