OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. —The NYIT lacrosse teams produced a clean sweep of the East Coast Conference weekly awards on Monday.
For the men, Matt Murphy earned Offensive Player of the Week, Ian Prate earned Defensive Player of the Week and Brian Jockers earned Rookie of the Week.
For the women, Alyssa Milano earned Offensive Player of the Week, Erin Lankowicz earned Defensive Player of the Week and Madisyn Hausch earned Rookie of the Week.
Both teams now enter their respective ECC tournaments.
The third-seeded women face No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday at President's Stadium in a quarterfinal matchup.
The top-seeded men face No. 4 Molloy on Wednesday at President's Stadium in a semifinal matchup.
Both games start at 4 p.m.
After Molloy rallied for a 5-4 lead last Wednesday, Murphy answered midway through the second quarter to even the score. That sparked a stretch of five unanswered goals by the Bears — three by Murphy — and NYIT led the rest of the way.
Murphy combined for nine goals, three assists and five ground balls in wins against Molloy and District of Columbia as NYIT finished unbeaten in the regular season in league play for a second straight year.
Meanwhile, Prate produced eight ground balls and caused six turnovers in the wins against Molloy and UDC. And Jockers had a 7.00 GAA and .576 save percentage in those victories.
Milano set a program single-game record with eight goals at UDC on Saturday. She combined for 14 goals, two assists, eight ground balls, nine draw controls and two caused turnovers in wins at Queens and UDC last week.
Lankowicz combined for six ground balls and three caused turnovers in those wins. Hausch had four goals, four assists and one ground ball for the week.
Baseball's Brandon Alberto and Ryan Kuskowski also were recognized by the ECC as part of the league's weekly honor roll.
