Head coach Rachel Reeves has navigated the women's soccer team to solid footing in two seasons at the program's helm.
The Bears produced a 9-7 record and came within one point of reaching the ECC Championships in 2017, in Reeves' second season leading the program.
NYIT produced a pair of second-team All-ECC selections: Dina Simonian and Casey Luongo. Luongo's 11 goals came within two of matching the program's single-season record.
The Bears also performed in the classroom. Eighteen women's soccer players were honored as member's of the Athletic Director's Spring 2017 Honor Roll for producing at least a 3.2 GPA. The squad had more members achieve that academic distinction than any other NYIT team.
NYIT welcomed Reeves as the new women's soccer head coach on March 1, 2016.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Reeves serves as coordinator of the Bears Athletic Fund.
Reeves arrived from Wagner College, where she spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach. In that role, the Huntington, N.Y., native was responsible for designing practice programs and pregame warmups along with off-campus recruiting.
She was a defender at Wagner from 2010 through 2013, and captained the team as a senior to the winningest season in program history.
Reeves earned a degree in business administration from Wagner in 2013 and also has earned a master's degree in business administration.
The Bears Athletic Fund (BAF) serves as the primary fundraising arm for the Department of Athletics. Its goal is to raise funds for NYIT’s 13 NCAA Division II athletic programs.
The funds raised help ensure that NYIT student athletes are able to achieve excellence both in the classroom and on the fields and courts of competition while representing NYIT.
Reeves is responsible for the organization and execution of the BAF’s signature events: the Basketball Tip-Off Dinner, Baseball and Softball First Pitch Dinner, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Face Off Luncheon, and the annual Athletics Golf Outing and Hall of Fame Enshrinement Dinner.
Additionally, Reeves serves as the liaison between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and NYIT’s Development and Alumni Affairs offices. She also assists the director of athletics in the cultivation of gifts to the BAF.
