DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. — Make it four straight wins, all in East Coast Conference play, for the NYIT volleyball team.

The Bears defeated Mercy, 25-19, 25-10, 25-17, on Thursday night at Dobbs Ferry High School.

NYIT improved to 16-5 overall and 5-2 in league play at the midpoint of the ECC schedule.

In a busy week, NYIT has now defeated Daemen, Roberts Wesleyan, Bridgeport and Mercy in a six-day span.

Against Mercy, Tiffany Verni had 19 kills and Karolina Moderova had 13 kills. Allison Fowler had 42 assists and 18 digs.

"The confidence has really picked up," coach Gail Wasmus said. "I think tonight we didn't adjust to the different type of hits than we had last night against Bridgeport."

NYIT now looks ahead to a rematch at Molloy on Tuesday. The Lions defeated NYIT in five sets at Recreation Hall on Sept. 20. The Bears had won the opening two sets in that match before stumbling.

"It's a tremendous opportunity to show what we're really made of," Wasmus said.
