ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. — The NYIT volleyball team's second turn through the East Coast Conference schedule began with a loss.

Looking to avenge a five-set defeat to Molloy in Old Westbury during the opening week of league play, the Bears instead dropped a 25-15, 25-22, 25-23 match to the Lions on Tuesday.

It marked the first season since 2007, when the teams had only one meeting, that NYIT failed to produce at least one win against Molloy. The Bears entered this season 30-5 all time against the Lions.

NYIT dropped to 16-6 overall and 5-3 in the ECC.

The Bears had entered Tuesday's match having won four straight matches, all against ECC opponents.
