WATERBURY, Conn. — The NYIT volleyball team now awaits its opening-round opponent in the East Coast Conference championships.

The Bears completed a 24-win regular season with a 25-13, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17 victory in a nonconference matchup at Post on Saturday.

NYIT, which went 10-4 in the ECC, has locked up the No. 3 seed in Friday's league semifinals.

If Molloy defeats Daemen on Sunday at noon, the Lions will host the ECC Championships in Rockville Centre as the top seed and NYIT will face No. 2 seed LIU Post.

If Molloy loses to Daemen, LIU Post is the No. 1 seed and hosts the tournament and the Bears instead face second-seeded Molloy down Northern Boulevard in Brookville.

Daemen was eliminated from contention on Saturday when it lost at Queens. Instead, Bridgeport earns the fourth and final seed.

NYIT was swept in the season series by both Molloy and LIU Post, but otherwise went unbeaten in league play.

On Saturday in Waterbury, Karolina Moderova had 17 kills and Tiffany Verni had 15. Allison Fowler had 37 assists. Chessie Santeramo had 18 digs.

This marks the third straight season, and the sixth time in the past eight years, that NYIT volleyball has reached the 20-win plateau.
